12th Human Rights Council Session

The 12th and last Human Rights Council session of this year was held from mid September until the beginning of October. The full intern team was involved. Every intern had a chance to prepare an oral statement, address the council, follow sessions and report on these. From the three-week HRC agenda, WILPF focused and reported on the following items:

Oral statements:

The oral statements made on the situation in Camp Ashraf in Iraq, the right to water, the report of the Universal Periodic Review of New Zealand and the integration of gender perspectives in the work of the Council were co-signed by many national and international NGOs.

WILPF always made sure to hand their statements to the press officers in order to circulate them succesfully. The visibility of WILPF during this Council's session led to many positive reactions by diplomats and NGO representatives.
